Food for Thought
The number one fear reported is a mental decline as we age. No one wants to hit retirement age and not have the cognitive ability to remember! This can impact simple memory recall, such as remembering a new friend’s name to skill recall, such as swinging a golf club.
What if you could be proactive now to stack the cards in your favor? What if studies revealed that it could be as simple as supplementing with B vitamins to help either slow or prevent mental decline? Would you consider taking this holistic approach so you could enjoy a round of golf with your friend, Walter?
A new study from Korea found that supplementing with vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid may improve cognitive (brain) function in older adults who are experiencing mild cognitive impairment already.
A key finding, after this 12-week study, was the daily addition of B vitamin supplements were associated with lower levels of depression and decreased levels of homocysteine (an amino acid … aka, building blocks for protein). This research supports the hypothesis that elevated homocysteine levels are associated with wasting of the brain.
